Monarch’s 18 slots at Gatwick Airport alone could be worth an estimated £60million.
But administrators at KPMG have sought an urgent judicial review to clarify if they have the authority to flog them. Blair Nimmo, joint administrator, said KPMG also wanted to ensure “the greatest chance of maximising the continued use of the slots”.
Monarch’s owner, Greybull Capital, is likely to get the bulk of any sell-off as it is first in line to recoup money, ahead of suppliers and the taxman.
