Dear Diarmuid

I’ve got a problem with toadstools in my garden. They’re now growing along my lane and this year there are a lot more than usual. How can I get rid of them?

Some are orange, some cream and some are very dark – nearly black.

Toadstools are the fruit of fungi living below the ground. Generally they are a healthy and natural part of a garden’s ecosystem. There’s no fungicide available to kill them off so your best bet is to don a pair of gloves and chuck them all in a bin bag.

They will return, but probably not for another year.

Diarmuid
