Fallon: ‘Flexi Army’ boost for mothers
PLANS for flexible working in the Armed Forces will make life significantly easier for women with children, Sir Michael Fallon has said.
The Defence Secretary said the changes were “essential” as MPs prepared to debate the new legislation for the first time.
The Armed Forces (Flexible Working) Bill aims to let personnel work parttime for short periods and limit how long they need to spend away from their home bases and families.
They would still be required to deploy on operations if necessary.
Sir Michael said: “The military must offer conditions that keep up with those available in other lines of work.”
The measures are due to come into effect in 2019.
