Great British Bake Off team take off
THE Great British Bake Off team are planning a holiday together.
Judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith and hosts Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig get on so well that they want to spend time together off-set.
Original star Paul and the three newbies have bonded since the hit show moved from the BBC to Channel 4 . Sandy said she was nervy when she started but soon gelled with Paul, Prue and Noel over their shared sense of humour.
She says: “I’d worked with Noel a bit but we were trying to create a double act out of nothing.
“I didn’t know Prue very well, I didn’t know Paul very well. Now, honestly, we’re planning on going on holiday together, it’s that wonderful. We have a similar sense of humour and once you’ve got that it helps, there’s a shorthand.”
Sandi was speaking ahead of Tuesday’s final, in which favourite Steven Carter-Bailey takes on Sophie Faldo and Kate Lyon.
Sandi struggled to film the final scenes, saying: “Announcing the winner is one of the most choking things anybody’s ever been asked to do because it isn’t just saying congratulations to somebody… it’s saying sorry to the other two.”
Paul added: “It was so chilled until the last couple of hours. It’s always the same when the families turn up.
“They catch them out of the corner of their eye and then it becomes very real to them that they are in the final and this year’s final stands exceptional. It was the hardest judging I have ever been involved in.”
