FACTUAL
C4, 9pm We’re in Wiltshire for the return of this observational documentary series, looking at the challenging work of the police, paramedics and fire service.
It’s a county with strong military connections – eight Army bases and 1,500 personnel – and with longstanding tensions between squaddies and civilians.
Drunken nights out from the barracks frequently result in violence. In this first episode, we see a soldier accused of sexual assault and another who punched a 76-year-old passerby and knocked him out. Neither can remember a thing the next day. It makes difficult, frustrating viewing: especially seeing the abuse those dealing with them have to endure.
On top of this, there are many former soldiers living in the area who are battling PTSD with little support. Many are volatile and violent with their partners, while others attempt suicide.
