‘Unsafe air in 44 UK towns’
MILLIONS of people in British cities are inhaling air classed too dangerous to breathe by the World Health Organisation, a report has shown.
Of the 51 UK cities and towns listed, 44 failed the test for fine sooty particles linked to heart disease and premature death.
Dr Toby Hillman, of the Royal College of Physicians, said: “This is a really direct and tangible impact on UK health... and taking action on air quality should be a priority.”
