MIND THE GAP
The City watchdog was left red-faced after the number of women in its top jobs dropped.
The Financial Conduct Authority had promised that women will make up 45% of department heads by 2020, yet the figure has fallen from 39% to 36% in the past year.
Female FCA workers are also paid around 20% less than men, compared with 18.4% in the wider workforce and a record low 9.1% among full-timers.
Meanwhile, just 2% of FCA seniors are black, Asian or ethnic minority, down on 2016, and against an 8% target for 2020. Christopher Woolard, chair of the FCA’s executive diversity committee said: “We are obviously disappointed.” PM Theresa May has called on millions of firms to publish gender pay gaps.
