Restaurants face wipeout

-

ONE in five restaurants risks going bust due to the weak pound and rising wages, experts warn.

Britain imports more than half its food but the pound has plummeted 13% against the euro.

And the national minimum wage – £6.70 an hour in 2015 – will hit at least £9 an hour by 2020.

Accountants Moore Stephens said 14,800 restaurants could shut, adding: “The sector is one of the most competitive and current conditions make it even tougher.”
