Restaurants face wipeout
ONE in five restaurants risks going bust due to the weak pound and rising wages, experts warn.
Britain imports more than half its food but the pound has plummeted 13% against the euro.
And the national minimum wage – £6.70 an hour in 2015 – will hit at least £9 an hour by 2020.
Accountants Moore Stephens said 14,800 restaurants could shut, adding: “The sector is one of the most competitive and current conditions make it even tougher.”
