GUNNERS’ FIGHT TO GET LEMAR

- BY JOHN CROSS

ARSENAL are facing a major battle to land top transfer target Thomas Lemar. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger failed with a last-minute £90million bid in August, but will try again for the Monaco winger next summer. Liverpool and Barcelona are also in the running and Lemar (left) can command a contract in excess of £250,000 a week. Arsenal are confident they are in pole position, but it could come down to the 21-year-old’s choice on where he wants to go. Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev admitted Arsenal had come “really close” to landing Lemar but ran out of time on deadline day.
