MARTIN BRAITHWAITE and Britt Assombalonga proved that money talks by giving Middlesbrough’s promotion bid a boost.

Braithwaite, signed for £9million from Toulouse, pounced on a Kevin Stewart error to slide Boro in front. Then Assombalonga, the clubrecord £15m buy from Nottingham Forest, headed in from a Cyrus Christie cross.

Hull winger Kamil Grosicki pulled one back with less than 20 minutes left, but Boro captain Grant Leadbitter fired home a late penalty, after Tigers defender Michael Hector was sent off.
