Personally we reckon he’d struggle on a hen night in Essex, but that’s by the by. So the next properly terrifying and potentiall­y deadly place for Ross to check out? The notorious Scottish prison, Barlinnie.

Known as The Big Hoos, the Victorian jail in Glasgow is home to 1,250 bad guys.

After he’s admitted – subjected to the same rubber glove check as every other new convict – and given his orange uniform, Ross gets a taste of life behind bars.

He talks to the officers who have to deal with violence and drug abuse, inspects some of the many weapons retrieved from you don’t really want to know where, and meets Barlinnie’s inmates to find out if they think they can be rehabilita­ted.
