ROBY BACKS WALMSLEY TO RIP IN FOR ENGLAND

- FROM GARETH WALKER in Sydney

JAMES ROBY says St Helens team-mate Alex Walmsley is ready to explode into action at the World Cup.

The giant prop, Super League’s top metre-maker in 2017, was denied a Test debut against Australia when he failed to shake off a virus.

But Walmsley (right) will be thrown in against Lebanon on Saturday – and Roby believes Australian crowds will love his style of play.

The Saints hooker said: “He’s ready for it. I’ve played with him for a few years now at St Helens and he’s been fantastic for us. I just hope he can do what he does week-in week-out for St Helens out on the pitch for England.

“I’m confident he’ll do that, he’s training very well. He runs very hard, and is a tough player who will give it his all.”
