It’s all held together by the gleeful performance of Brit actor Tom Holland, and features former Batman star Michael Keaton as a supervillain called The Vulture. Not including the still-in-cinemas Thor: Ragnorak, of the 16 films in Marvel’s cinematic universe, it has taken the fifth most money at the box office.

With £668million, it sits ahead of Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 and just behind Iron Man 3. I’m sure the web-slinger’s next yarn will see him crawl higher up the chart.
