86% abused driving buses
BUS drivers face regular abuse, including being attacked and spat at, a survey by Unite revealed.
Most of the 6,000 London bus drivers reported verbal assaults (86%) said the union.
One in eight (12%) had been spat at, it said.
John Murphy, of Unite, said levels of abuse in the capital were “shocking”.
Launching a campaign to support drivers, Unite said 50% of incidents went unreported for fear of blame or being disciplined.
