Rare Lennon album could go for £750k
THE “rarest ever Beatles record” could sell for up to £750,000, say experts.
John Lennon exchanged his copy of the Yesterday And Today album in 1971 with fan Dave Morrell for early Beatles recordings.
Lennon signed the cover and drew a small piece of artwork on the back.
The album caused outrage on release in 1966 as it depicted the Fab Four posing as butchers with decapitated babies and meat. Capital Records withdrew it two days later.
A collector bought it from Mr Morrell, who got the cover also signed by Beatles Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney, and will sell it on November 11.
Garry Shrum, of Dallasbased Heritage Auctions, said: “It’s a great piece of rock and roll history.”
