YOUR SHOUT

Fiona, like you I tend to keep my cars about 10 years plus. I’d decided my next car would be a Mazda 6. The best cash deal was £21,500. I was then offered a PCP, which meant that if I paid the final payment in 36 months the actual cost to me would be £16,600. I have invested the money I was going to use, which will make me £1,200! How on earth can this be better to the dealership than cash? The world’s gone mad. J Pendlebury via e-mail

Fiona, my husband has just purchased a Toyota and even though he told them he wanted to pay cash they still brought the finance man out to try and push a deal on him. He’s bought at least six cars from them and always pays cash. They try every time. Very annoying. Judy via e-mail

Fiona, when my dad died, my mum was lost. She’d nursed him through a leg amputation and then cancer. The vicar who officiated my dad’s funeral took the time to get to know my mum, often visiting her even though she didn’t go to church. He gently encouraged her to attend and eventually she did. Mum now attends coffee mornings, lunch club, keep fit and day trips. Without the church I don’t know how she would have coped. She says it’s been a lifeline, so your comment about “turning over the churches to the homeless” is disrespectful to all those who take comfort in the church. Liz Burke via e-mail FP: I’ve got nothing against the good deeds of the church, Liz. It’s religion I have a problem with. You don’t need it to be a good person. Nurses, doctors and good social care workers are the type of angels that I worship.
