‘OZ ON RED ROSE RUMBLE HELPS’

-

WALES hope a training ground dust-up with England can help them end their Australia hoodoo.

Warren Gatland’s forwards will lock horns with their Red Rose counterparts in Bristol next week.

Monday’s session between the two bitter rivals will see both teams work on their line-outs and scrums in a competitive environment refereed by Nigel Owens.

Wales hope it can pave their way to success ahead of meeting the Wallabies a week on Saturday. Gatland’s side have lost their last 12 games to the Aussies.

“When you scrummage in training against the same boys week in, week out, you tend to get to know each other’s strengths and weaknesses pretty quick,” said hooker Ken Owens (right).

“It can give you a false sense of security. We’ll know what’s coming with the England pack, but it will be much more like a game environment. Hopefully it will help us start on the front foot against Australia. We’re looking forward to it taking us out of our comfort zone.

“Going up against England will be a very good test.”

Wales have five uncapped players in their squad to face Australia, with Gatland preparing to go for broke.
