FORMER Leeds hooker Paul Aiton expects Ireland to be a sterner test for Papua New Guinea than Wales.

The Kumuls brushed Wales aside 50-6 in Port Moresby, but Ireland were almost as impressive in accounting for Italy. Tomorrow’s clash is likely to decide who faces England in the quarter-finals and Catalans star Aiton will be facing familiar opponents.

He said: “Ireland look good. They’ve got a lot of players I’ve either played against or with in Super League. Their whole pack is made up of quality players.”
