IT’S HALL OR NOTHING FOR ENGLAND
England 29 Lebanon 10 FROM GARETH WALKER in Sydney
RYAN HALL says England desperately need to find some form when they face France on Sunday, after taking a backwards step against Lebanon.
Wayne Bennett’s side struggled for fluidity in a scrappy second half, that saw them restricted to Tom Burgess’ remarkable 40-metre try. They were never in danger of losing, thanks to a first-half purple patch that yielded three tries in eight minutes, including Hall’s 33rd in 34 appearances (right).
But there was little progress from the defeat to Australia, and winger Hall said: “We’ve got quite a bit to improve on.
“Bizarrely, we played better against Australia when we lost – but that’s the World Cup for you.”
