Rose back on scent of success

- BY NEIL McLEMAN

DANNY ROSE has revealed how support from Gareth Southgate and Mauricio Pochettino helped him back from his injury nightmare as he targets the World Cup.

The Spurs full-back played against Crystal Palace on Sunday in his first Premier League start since January.

His Spurs career seemed over in August when fined two weeks’ wages for publicly criticising the club’s transfer policy and wage structure.

But Rose (above) said the backing of his two bosses has pushed him to return from knee trouble for club and country.

“I’ve spoken to Gareth a lot,” said the 27-year-old. “He knows I haven’t played much football but knows what I’m capable of. I did a bit of my rehab at the England training centre. I was around him for three weeks and we spoke pretty much every day.

“It was nice the England manager was up for me doing some rehab there. It helped mentally. My end goal is to be part of that World Cup squad.”

He also insisted his relationship with Pochettino was good. “He’s been great at integrating me back into the team and getting me some minutes,” he said.
