Blackpool sale fear

-

BLACKPOOL’S future is in doubt after its owners were ordered to pay £31million.

Former Seasiders president Valeri Belokon claimed Karl and Owen Oyston used Blackpool as a “personal cash machine” after promotion to the Premier League and he had not been fully repaid for his part in the club’s rise.

The High Court in London ruled Belokon was owed the money as a buyout for his 20 per cent stake. It was alleged Owen Oyston paid himself £11m.

Alan Steinfeld, for the Oystons, claimed the decision would “financially cripple” the League One club and might result in it being put up for sale.

“A buyout could send the club into administration,“he said. “Owen Oyston loves the club.”
