Jobs scandal of new mums

ONE in 20 women are unfairly made redundant while pregnant, on maternity leave or soon after returning, a charity says.

The Maternity Alliance said tougher laws are needed to stop them losing their jobs.

It urged Britain to adopt the German code, where women cannot be made redundant from the notification of their pregnancy to six months after they return to work.
