‘Another person tampered with my wife’s parachute’
AN Army sergeant accused of trying to murder his wife by tampering with her parachute yesterday told a jury that someone else did it.
Emile Cilliers, 37, said it was “more than likely” that vital “slinks” were removed by a would-be killer.
Victoria, 42, an Army captain, almost died when her chutes failed in a jump at Netheravon, Wilts. Prosecutor Michael Bowes QC asked him: “So someone just turned up and randomly tried to kill someone?” Cilliers replied: “It could be, all I know is I didn’t have anything to do with it so someone must have.” Cilliers also gave evidence that six months earlier he met lover Stefanie Goller on Tinder. He denies attempted murder and criminal damage recklessly endangering life. The trial at Winchester crown court continues.
