Judge Prue’s huge slice of humble pie

BAKE Off champ Sophie Faldo says she was the first to spot that judge Prue Leith had been a bit of a dumpling and tweeted the name of the winner too soon.

Sophie said: “I spotted it on my news feed when it had been up for 42 seconds. I knew straight away a clanger had been dropped.

“It was actually me who rang Prue’s assistant.”

She also tipped off Love Productions about the blunder, which happened when Prue was abroad and in a different time zone.

Speaking to OK! magazine, Sophie said: “I didn’t think about any implications for me, but I knew it would be something that would be important to the production company, so I wanted to do as much damage limitation as I could.

“It didn’t make any difference to me, but I suspect there are a lot of viewers that were a bit disappointed that it was spoilt.”

She revealed Prue was “absolutely devastated” about her mistake and continued: “We had a little email exchange.

“She apologised for revealing my name. I want her to know there are no hard feelings.”

Ex-Army office Sophie revealed how all that baking took its toll and she has put on 1st 2lb since starting the show.

She said: “I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been, but I’m back into training now and I’m getting it off.”

Sophie also revealed why she had a boob job in 2010. She said: “I lost a lot of weight in a short period of time and ended up with a fair amount of sag in the boob department. I never thought about it until I had accrued some savings.

“I knew it would help my confidence, so I had an uplift. The surgeon did a great job and I’m very happy.” CLANGER Prue & winner Sophie
