6 fire bodies ‘trapped’ in unsafe home

- BY HARRY HAWKINS

THE bodies of six family members killed in a fire could take months to recover as the building is too unsafe to search.

David Cuthbertson, 68, and five children aged between 12 and four died when the blaze ripped through their farmhouse.

Chief Supt Tony Brown, of Dyfed-Powys Police said: “The building is unstable. It’s going to require 260 tons of bricks and mortar being taken down by hand, brick by brick, to gain access.

“I cannot justify putting the safety of others in danger of that farmhouse falling down on them and causing further injuries.”

Three other children aged 13, 12 and 10, escaped the fire in Llangammarch Wells, Powys, and are being care for by relatives.
