AN OAP who complained about another care home resident’s coughing died after he was hit by the man, an inquest heard.

Schizophrenic Brendan Smyth, 70, suffered a broken spine and died in hospital three days later.

The 63-year-old resident was arrested on suspicion of murder at Regent House in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex.

The case was dropped due to their mental health.

Coroner Caroline Beasley-Murray said he “died of an accident”.
