WATSON SET TO WING IT AGAINST PUMAS

- BY ALEX SPINK

ANTHONY WATSON will start for England against Argentina after fearing he would be rested for the autumn series.

But fellow Lions Owen Farrell and Maro Itoje could be omitted from Saturday’s starting line-up, with boss Eddie Jones keen to restrict the workload of those who played prominent roles in the drawn series with New Zealand.

The Australian’s hand has been forced over Watson (right), who started all three Tests for Warren Gatland’s tourists, by injuries to wingers Jack Nowell, Jonny May and Elliot Daly. He could have opted for Denny Solomona on the wide outside, but last night released the Sale flyer back to his club.

Farrell spent yesterday’s training session in tracksuit trousers while Itoje stepped away from many of the forward drills.
