Dementia No1 for UK deaths

DEMENTIA has become the leading cause of death in Britain, killing more people than heart disease.

The condition claimed 70,366 lives last year, compared to 66,076 for heart disease.

Alzheimer’s Research UK demanded funding for studies be doubled to £132million, saying: “There are currently no treatments to slow or stop the diseases behind dementia.”
