Benefit cuts risks to poor

TORY benefit cuts will leave the poorest families more vulnerable to future recessions, a study shows.

The Institute for Fiscal Studies also warned the Universal Credit rollout will mean workers wait longer for help when their income falls.

IFS’s Andrew Hood said the impact of changing tax and benefits “when the next recession hits” has to be considered.
