REFEREE Graham Poll caused fury among home supporters when he sent off Everton striker James McFadden during a Carling Cup clash at Goodison Park.

Poll needed a police escort from the stadium following the red card after McFadden called the official a ‘‘f***ing cheat’’. Emmanuel Adebayor’s 85th-minute goal put Arsenal into the last eight. Poll had sent off Chelsea skipper John Terry on the previous Sunday.
