LEST WE FORGET..

#Regarding your quiz which asked how much do we know about the First World War (Mirror, Nov 6), the answer for many of us is very little.

World War Two and subsequent conflicts have taken precedence in people’s minds.

We must be reminded of the events and suffering experienced in the First World War.

That war is the reason, after all, why we wear the Remembrance Poppy which funds the Royal British Legion. Brian Davies, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk

#What a brilliant article by Brian Reade, comparing Lewis Hamilton and Jermain Defoe as contenders for the BBC Sports Personality of The Year Award (Mirror, Nov 9).
