GIVEN: KEANE IS VITAL VOICE

SHAY GIVEN insists Roy Keane is vital to Ireland’s World Cup play-off bid.

Keane (right) was dismissed as a “cabaret act”, alongside boss Martin O’Neill, by Irish pundit Eamon Dunphy last month.

But Given says Keane’s partnership with O’Neill and “calm” interventions in the dressing room are vital in scheming a victory over Denmark. Given said: “Roy brings huge qualities because of what he’s done as a player, a manager and as a person. “When he speaks to you, you listen. He has a calmness when he speaks, but he has that fire inside as well, so if you are not doing something, he tells you.”
