Driver killed by mystery concrete hit
A VAN driver died after a piece of concrete smashed through his windscreen and into his head on a busy road, an inquest heard.
It is unclear where the brick-sized lump that hit dad-of-two Andrew Brett, 61, came from, police said.
He drove under no bridges so the concrete was not dropped on him.
Det Chief Insp Martin Passmore told the inquest: “It is most likely to have fallen from a vehicle or forced up by a vehicle.
“I don’t believe it was thrown from a vehicle but I cannot rule that out.”
Andrew, of Sible Hedingham, Essex, died of head injuries in the smash on the M11 on August 9.
Coroner Caroline Beasley-Murray gave a narrative verdict at the Chelmsford hearing.
