Luc’s like a Belgium bonanza

SNOOKER’S free spirit Luca Brecel is targeting a sporting double next year – a first world title followed by a Belgian World Cup win.

Brecel, a teenage prodigy, roared back to form with a debut rankingtitle success at the China Championship last month.

And tonight he takes on former world champion Shaun Murphy in the semi-finals of the Champion of Champions event in Coventry.

The 22-year-old Belgian (above) said: “The big stars in Belgium are Eden Hazard, Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne. Maybe a double next year, a world title for me and a World Cup for them.”

Murphy, who lost out to Brecel in that China Championship final, wants revenge. He said: “It would be nice to get one back over Luca but he is very hard to defend against because he is a real free spirit.”
