Fire chiefs in building plea after Grenfell
TRAGEDY Grenfell Tower THE Grenfell Tower tragedy could happen again because building firms are not taking safety “seriously”, fire chiefs warn.
The London Fire Brigade today claims that a “lack of competence” means “dangerous decisions” are being made about building design and construction.
Dan Daly, assistant commissioner for fire safety, said: “It took a tragedy for everyone to take fire safety seriously.
“There are countless points where a dangerous decision can be made.”
He said “urgent action” was needed to regulate the construction industry.
The brigade has made recommendations to Dame Judith Hackitt’s review of safety, commissioned after Grenfell.
