Tory civil war will doom Brexit talks

-

TORIES fighting like ferrets in a sack make it impossible to obtain a decent Brexit deal.

Leaders of our 27 European neighbours know as well as we do that Theresa May couldn’t negotiate a refund on a pair of new shoes with a broken heel. So why should they respect her when we don’t?

Leaders of our 27 European neighbours know as well as we do that Cabinet ministers are squabbling over who should replace her and when it should happen. So why should they respect them when we don’t?

And leaders of our 27 European neighbours know as well as we do that the Government is a battlefield between Remainer realists and Brextremists who believe other people’s jobs are a price worth paying to fulfil their own ideological obsession.

So why should they do a deal that’s good for Britain when we don’t know what we’re asking for?

Unless this madness is stopped, future generations will wonder why nobody halted an act of self-harm more extreme than the porn allegedly on Damian Green’s office computer.

May’s so aware of the economic and security damage she’s inflicting, she couldn’t declare publicly she’d vote for Brexit in another referendum.

Her position is almost as contemptible as that of Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt, who is prepared to sacrifice the NHS by embracing Brexit in the hope it helps him grab the keys to Downing Street. Bullying notes to No10 from Tory Brextremists Boris Johnson and Michael Gove show they are a couple of villains advising householders on security before they break in.

And we’re now learning from a scorned former lover of Nigel Farage that UKIP’s selfish fuhrer did to her what Brexit will do to the country.

Every day the case is stronger for a referendum on the real choice confronting Britain by giving us a vote on the terms for going or staying. In changing a Withdrawal Bill to be shaped by MPs this week, bringing forward Brexit by an hour to 11pm on 29 March, 2019 (midnight for most of our European partners), the Government has unintentionally given MPs a green light to take back control and assert the supremacy of Parliament.

MPs must amend, amend, then amend again. It’s time for Tory rebels to put up or shut up. For the DUP to stand up for Ulster. And for Labour to back away from Brexit.

Democrats won’t be afraid of the first referendum on reality. Only lying Brextremists will fear that.
