Let people pick
TORY MPs should put up or shut up – but the contest Britain really needs is a General Election to let the people decide who rules after June’s inconclusive result.
Democracy must not be limited to just over 300 MPs on the right-wing of politics, or that dwindling unfashionable sect called the Conservative Party, when who is Prime Minister is a decision ideally involving us all.
Whether Theresa May is to continue as PM or be replaced by another Tory or Labour’s Jeremy Corbyn is a decision for all of us rather than a few men plotting in Westminster.
So let’s have that General Election rather than another Tory leadership election. The Conservatives can hold that after they’ve lost.
