3 hunters hit by accident during shoot

SCENE Carnanton House A MAN was shot in the eye and neck and two other hunters were injured when they were accidental­ly fired at at a gun dog trial.

Paul Young, 67, is likely to lose an eye after a pellet hit his head, missing his brain by “millimetre­s”.

His son Stu said: “He is very likely going to lose his sight. This is millimetre­s from his brain and could have been fatal.

“My father’s life is now being changed drasticall­y.”

The men were hit when a gun was fired 20 metres from them at the Duchy Working Gundog Club event in Carnanton House, St Mawgan, Cornwall.

Mr Young and a second man, who was also badly injured, were airlifted to hospital in Plymouth.

Police said Thursday’s shooting was an accident.
