How does a child begin to comprehend the terminal illness or death of a parent?

You will cry buckets from the outset during this heartbreaking film for Children In Need, which sees children share their experiences to help others.

“I didn’t understand what death was until I saw her lying there,” explains one boy. Others share fond memories: “My dad was always joking around or dancing.”

It’s hugely sad, but we are walloped over the head with the statistic that every day in the UK over 100 children lose their mum or dad. “When they die you get a big shock,” says seven-year-old Lilia.

Madeleine, nine, whose mum has SCARED Madeleine, mum and sister

incurable breast cancer, says: “It feels a bit scary because I don’t know when it’s going to happen.” A candid film from an incredibly articulate and mature group of young people.
