CLYNE OP AFTER SETBACK

- BY DAVID MADDOCK

NATHANIEL CLYNE will be out another three months after a setback in training.

The Liverpool defender, who has not played all season, was due to make a return this month but his back injury has flared up again and yesterday he travelled to London for an operation aimed at curing the problem for good.

Kop boss Jurgen Klopp said before the recent win at West Ham: “He was running with high intensity but the muscle showed a little reaction. Usually with a fit player you wouldn’t even think about it but with him it’s a few steps back again.”

Clyne (right) was left out of Liverpool’s Champions League squad because of his injury, but he can be added to the list in January if the Reds reach the knock-out stages.
