Bale told: Quit Real if it makes you happy

- BY JAMES NURSEY

CHRIS COLEMAN has urged Gareth Bale to return to the Premier League if it makes him happy.

The Wales and Real Madrid star is sidelined again having injured a thigh in training last week.

He has missed 40 of the Spanish champions’ last 60 matches.

Real are believed to be willing to cash in on Bale in January. They paid £85million to sign him from Tottenham in 2013.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is a longterm admirer and Spurs would welcome him back.

Dragons boss Coleman said: “I would like to see Gareth, wherever he is going, be happy because wherever he is happy he plays great football.

“He comes with us, he’s happy and we see an amazing player. Wherever he isn’t happy then he shouldn’t be there. If he is

happy in Madrid then fine, if not then he needs to go and play somewhere where he is happy.”

Bale has not played since September 26 and was absent as Wales failed to reach the World Cup.

He has made only nine appearances in all competitions this season for Real, who have slipped to third place in La Liga, are eight points behind leaders Barcelona and were thumped at Spurs in the Champions League.

He was close to returning from a calf injury when he suffered his latest setback and could be out for up to six weeks.
