Family properties sold to pay costs

-

ALMOST everyone has to contribute towards the cost of care on top of what they have paid in general taxation.

Those with assets of £23,250 must use them to pay for care. In many cases, this means selling the family home.

Residents and their families are often made to pay “top up” funding to get a place at a more expensive care home.

Under the Continuing Healthcare programme, people given only a short time to live should get Government help.
