Rise in guide dog attacks

-

ATTACKS on guide dogs have nearly doubled in the past five years, with 157 incidents reported in the 12 months to March.

More than 90% of the attacks were by other dogs that were not on a leash.

But in one case in Crawley, West Sussex, a guide dog suffered a stab wound. Some of the injured dogs were retired.

Guide Dogs for the Blind, said: “If a dog can no longer work the owner loses their means of leaving home alone.”
