Debbie’s hot to foxtrot
McGee’s bottle therapy on pulled muscles to get fit for Strictly live
DEBBIE McGee is pinning her hopes on a magic cure for pulled muscles ahead of this weekend’s live Strictly show in Blackpool.
Debbie, 59, has been strapping hot water bottles to her back to make the agonising pain disappear.
Her sister Donna revealed: “She’s twisted a muscle so she’s struggling.
“It’s a real shame. She has been suffering – she had a hot water bottle on her back all week. It’s really been playing up.” Strictly sensation Debbie scored the first 40 of the BBC One series with partner Giovanni Pernice for their tango two weeks ago.
And Donna hinted she may already have had issues on Saturday, when her salsa to Can’t Take My Eyes Off You left her in third place with 35.
She added: “She’d been suffering, it could have gone either way. You don’t know if the back was going to go – but she doesn’t let it worry her.”
But Debbie, the widow and former assistant of magician Paul Daniels, says she is not fazed by appearing at Blackpool – because the couple did a summer season there before they were married. Debbie said: “Paul and I did a huge summer show at the Opera House, which has special memories for me as we sold out every night.” Loose Women presenter Ruth Langsford left the show on Sunday after she and veteran Anton Du Beke failed to impress judges with their foxtrot to Mack The Knife. That leaves eight pairs competing at the Tower Ballroom this weekend.
