Pothole rule ‘will kill more’

MORE cyclists face being killed over new rules on fixing potholes, a coroner has told the Government.

Peter Sigee’s warning came after a cyclist aged 83 died after hitting one.

Mr Sigee said the council in Ramsbottom, Gtr Manchester, used to fill potholes of 40mm or more.

But now the Department of Transport says potholes that deep should only be “investigated”.

The coroner said the ruling will “increase the risk of future deaths”.
