TOUGH guy Charles Bronson proved he had a softer side yesterday when he told his beloved: “You’re the most beautiful bride in the world.”

The notorious inmate welled up when ex-Corrie actor Paula Williamson made her big entrance into the prison office, according to a source.

It is believed Bronson was handcuffed to an officer as a registrar married the couple inside Wakefield top security prison known as “Monster Mansion”.

His 36-year-old bride had arrived at the unusual venue after being driven there by a Bronson lookalike. She entered the main gates hidden under a purple blanket with her white wedding dress billowing out underneath.

The wedding car procession had been led by a mobility scooter driven by a woman dressed in a cream pinstripe outfit. The groom’s suit had been delivered earlier – the first time Bronson 64, now known as Charles Salvador, had been allowed to wear zipped trousers.

The pair had planned to exchange rings with “CPS” engraved on them, standing for Charles and Paula Salvador, but also a “naughty” reference to the Crown Prosecution Service.

But the long-serving prisoner used their wedding day to try to show he was a reformed man – sending a message to youngsters not to follow him down the “road to hell”.

After the two-and-ahalf hour special occasion, he was off back to his cell, unable to consummate the marriage, while his bride carried on the celebrations at a nearby hotel. Outside the wedding breakfast room at the York House Hotel was a message from Bronson to anyone thinking of turning to crime. It read: “What would I say to youngsters who are about to take the road to crime? Simple! Put the brakes on. Stop and think! The facts are simple, it’s a road to hell. Don’t do it. Look at me, 4 decades lost! All for What?” Bronson has spent 41 years behind bars, including 37 in solitary confinement, after a string of brutal attacks on prison guards. The parole board will make a decision on his future within two weeks. Paula has appeared in Corrie, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks.
