500 REASONS WHY I’M STILL TOP DOG

New Irons boss Moyes barks a warning to Prem

- BY NEIL McLEMAN

DAVID MOYES will take charge of his 500th Premier League game today insisting he is a better manager than ever.

The new West Ham boss admits he is putting his reputation on the line by agreeing to fight a relegation battle with the Hammers and is already letting his players know who is top dog.

He said: “I’m not going to be pampering to any needs. I can’t be bothered.

“If anybody says they can’t get back from international duty, well

don’t think you will be coming in and playing Saturday.”

After 11 years at Everton, Moyes has not lasted more than a season at Manchester United, Real Sociedad or Sunderland, who were relegated under him last term.

But before his first game for the Irons at Watford tomorrow, the Scot, 54, said: “I’m definitely a better manager because of the experiences. If you go back to United, four-year deal only 10 months in the job, but probably my record would have stood with most in one year.

“I went to Spain and we kept them up. The Sunderland job was a bad decision by me.

“All I can do is to give my best here. I’m putting my reputation on the line – I’m happy to do it.”

Only Sir Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger and Harry Redknapp have managed more Premier League games than Moyes, who added: “Individual milestones aren’t important.”
