FA probe for Leeds
CHRIS WILDER insists the horror injury to Paul Coutts will not halt Sheffield United’s push for the Premier League.
Midfielder Coutts (above) is out for the season, after breaking his right leg at Burton last Friday.
But Blades boss Wilder believes he has readymade replacements, in John Lundstram and Samir Carruthers, as they host Fulham tonight.
He said: ”It’s a blow losing Paul, because he is a key player who has been outstanding for us over the last 18 months or so.
“But in Lunny and Samir we have two players who can deliver the same high level Paul produces.
“It’s a big opportunity for one of them to take their chance.” LEEDS could be in trouble with the FA after objects were hurled from the terraces in Sunday’s home win against Middlesbrough.
Missiles were thrown in the direction of a linesman by Leeds fans, after referee Keith Stroud’s controversial decision to award Boro a second-half penalty.
The FA confirmed it will be investigating, and asking the west Yorkshire club for their observations.
Boro striker Britt Assombalonga converted the 76th-minute spot-kick – Leeds defender Luke Ayling was deemed to have fouled Daniel Ayala – after Stroud’s assistant had flagged for his attention.
A section of the home support was incensed that Ayala had not been penalised for hauling down Ayling, who retaliated by grabbing the Boro defender’s leg.
Leeds held on to secure a 2-1 win, while the first return to Elland Road of Boro manager Garry Monk made for a feverish atmosphere.
Monk quit United in May and was appointed at Boro just over two weeks later.
