BAKE OFF PAUL SPLITS FROM WIFE
Break-up comes after he’s spotted kissing winner Candice
PAUL Hollywood and wife Alex have broken up after 19 years of marriage.
It comes just weeks after the Bake Off star was spotted kissing former show winner Candice Brown, 32.
The couple said: “It is with sadness that we have decided to separate.” Paul had a fling in 2013.
PAUL and Alex Hollywood’s marriage had already survived a fling that the TV baker had and the couple later insisted they were happier than ever.
But the pair last night announced they had split, 19 years after tying the knot.
No reason was given for the break-up, which comes just weeks after Bake Off star Paul, 51, was pictured sharing a cosy kiss with the show’s former winner Candice Brown, 32, at the Mirror’s Pride of Britain awards. The couple, who have a 16-yearold son Joshua, said in a statement: “It is with sadness that we have decided to separate. Our focus continues to be the happiness of our son during this very difficult time.”
Candice laughed off the kiss at the time as a “goodbye peck”. She had become engaged just a week before.
Paul and chef Alex had separated in 2013 after he admitted to having an affair with Marcela Valladolid, his co-star on the US version of Bake Off. She is 12 years his junior. He said later: “It was the biggest mistake of my life because actually I still love my wife.” The couple got back together and, in 2015, Paul said: “I think this is the happiest we’ve ever been.”
Alex, 51, initially refused to forgive him. But she changed her mind and said: “You’ve got to get on with life.”
The couple have not been pictured out together since last December.
