Wayne is silly & selfish.. but I want to save our marriage

COLEEN HITS OUT

COLEEN Rooney has blasted “silly and selfish” husband Wayne – but wants to rebuild her marriage.

Seen wearing her wedding ring for the first time since he was caught drunk in Laura Simpson’s car, Coleen, 31, admitted having a “s*** time”.

But she said: “I want to try and continue our marriage.”

BRAVE Coleen Rooney is giving her marriage another chance after declaring her love for husband Wayne – and praising him as a brilliant dad.

Exactly 12 weeks after the former England captain was arrested for being drunk at the wheel of party girl Laura Simpson’s VW Beetle, his wife has made an emotional personal statement.

Six months pregnant Coleen said: “Do I love Wayne? Yes I do. If I didn’t, then I wouldn’t be trying to make it work.

“I’m not going to list his good qualities as a person as I don’t think he deserves it, but one thing is that he is a brilliant dad.”

In her Facebook post, she went on: “I know I would be fine on my own, with just me and my children, but I don’t want to live like that, I want to try and continue our marriage and live as a family, because that’s what I want to do.”

Coleen – who was seen wearing her wedding ring at a fashion lunch in Manchester yesterday afternoon – made it clear there is a long way to go before her relationship with her childhood sweetheart would be back on solid ground.

“I’m not saying everything is fine and forgotten about, but we are as good as can be at this point,” she said. “I’m not the type of person to put a show on and say we’re all loved-up…. I’m just real.”

Wayne, 32, was arrested in September after a night out with pals while Coleen was in Majorca with sons, Kai, eight, Klay, four, and Kit, who is two in January. He was banned from the road for two years after admitting driving at three times the legal limit following the night out in Wilmslow, Cheshire.

Coleen, 31, made it clear she does not approve of his boozy nights and it appears he may be grounded in the foreseeable future.

She added: “He’s made silly and selfish mistakes, some he’s learnt from, some obviously not. However maybe that will change?

“One thing I do know is that too much alcohol on a night out is dangerous and a lot of stupid mistakes are made and things are said under the influence.

“I would never trust ANYONE who has had a lot of alcohol, it changes some people drastically.”

The ex-Manchester United star, who was seen buying coffees in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, yesterday, also received a 100-hour community service order and has worked at a community garden centre.

Coleen, who is expecting their fourth child in February, flew back to the UK immediately after his arrest and, after a tearful confrontation, removed her wedding ring.

Since then, despite living at their £6.7million family home in Prestbury, Cheshire, she had not been seen with the £250,000 gold band.

But yesterday she said it was time to slip it on her finger once more and was spotted at The Julie Perry Events Ladies Fashion Lunch at Artisan Bar & Restaurant in Manchester’s Spinningfields.

In her statement, Coleen said: “Before all the stories begin, Yes, I have put my wedding ring on. A lot of people will be saying ‘you don’t have to explain yourself, don’t feel

like you have to do this’ etc, I know I don’t, but I am and I want to. “It didn’t feel right wearing my ring, I see it as a sign of commitment and I was unsure what was happening. “I don’t feel sorry for myself. Also a few people are probably thinking I am stupid for staying in my marriage. “I am not stupid, I know my own mind and it’s something I want to try and work on.” Wayne had kept his own wedding ring on for the past three months and had desperately begged Coleen for forgiveness. But she admitted she thought the marriage was over, apparently torn apart in turmoil, wondering where Wayne was heading with Laura when he was pulled over by police. Coleen was pregnant with Kai in 2010 when he allegedly romped with two hookers. And earlier this year she was furious at reports he had “cosied up” to a woman during a late-night pub session while she was in Madrid. Yesterday she said: “Before the headlines start .... No, I’m not taking Wayne back as he’s never left. Yes, it has been a s*** time, and yes, time was spent apart and I thought my marriage might have been at an end.”

She added: “We are people, we have feelings, and as I always say to my children .... don’t do or say to others what you wouldn’t like done or said to yourself or your loved ones.

“To answer a lot of people, not everything in our life is money related. People think when you earn a lot of money everything is fine, yes there are advantages, but this isn’t everything.

“People are everything, and people are what make me the happiest in life.”

Coleen announced she was pregnant once again just weeks before Wayne’s liaison with Laura who, in the hours after Wayne’s arrest, hinted of a romantic encounter with the player.

She was quoted saying: “Was I going to spend the night with him? Yes, perhaps, we hadn’t really discussed it.

“We had a kiss, a hug, some banter, harmless fun.”

And the office worker later went on national TV to say Coleen should not forgive her husband. But the single mum later denied any intimacy with Wayne, telling ITV nothing happened.

She said on ITV’s This Morning: “In my eyes, I’ve done nothing wrong.”
